CFO Responsbilities

If you are the CFO of your company and you’re about to go on holiday, you’ll enjoy your time away safe in the knowledge that you will hit the ground running upon your return. With these five tips, your return to the office will be more seamless, though it means putting in a bit of work before your trip.1 – Make sure you close all possible tasks: if you’re already in the holiday mood it’s easy to delay one or two tasks. Avoid falling into this trap, thinking you will do it when you’re back. You will save yourself pain and you will be able to enjoy your holiday more. Taking time to organize the work will be your best investment in the long run.2 – Organize the team’s holiday time rationally: check your team’s holiday calendar so that no position is exposed. This will help you to avoid surprises upon your return.3 – Create a list of tasks and responsibilities: this is the pre-eminent need to ensure that everything works properly in your absence. Before leaving, ensure that everything is programmed and the owners of each task are assigned with appropriate conditions outlined, such as deadline. As a result, your department will work more smoothly in your absence4 – Your Out of Office message: ensure your out of office email responder contains a person to contact in your absence if it is urgent, that you will respond to all emails upon your return, and the date and time when you will be back. A good tip here is to actually give yourself some legroom by giving yourself one or two days to get through your emails while your OoO responder is still on.5 – Think ahead regarding meetings: Reduce meetings in the first week back at work. Yes, once back you will need to meet with your treasurer and probably the CEO, but try to minimise the number of meetings you will be invited to in order to focus on getting up to speed as quickly as possible once back. That starts now, with your return in mind.Carefully complying with these five tips will help make your return to work as pleasant and seamless as possible.
